Freedom

Freedom rings and tolls
Giving us much to sing about
but there is no singing now,
Only workers hammering down,
and up again, never ceasing
Down and up
Down and up
Children are not running around,
Nor playing in the dark.
They are at home,
down on their knees.
Praying, ever praying,
for a brother's safe return,
For sisters home unharmed.
They are fighting, always fighting,
For our bells, our music, our song,
Freedom.
